REB transport in a high-pressure gas at moderate current densities

Description

The REB injection into a gas at current densities < or approximately 50 A/cm2 and gas pressure approximately 105 Pa is investigated. Investigated are the character of REB transport in a gas., plasma produced by a beam, spatial distribution of plasma parameters and lifetime. The experiments have been performed at the REREK-2 device for two REB parameters: energy-360 keV, current - 1.4 A and energy - 450 keV and current 250A. The beam dynamics is considered with account for ionization of gas atoms plasma production and its decay owing to electron adhesion. The plasma electron lifetime has been determined by the time during a strong absorption of the 3 cm probing microwave radiation took place. The experiments performed at the TEREK-2 qualitatively confirmed the correctness of theoretical representations the REB injection into an atmosphere taken as example
