Estimation of the uncertainty of the W+jets background for σtantit in the lepton+jets final state at ATLAS in 10 TeV p-p collisions

Description

The talk will discuss the expected precision of a data-driven estimation of the W+jets background in the top pair production cross section measurement using 10 TeV proton-proton collisions at the LHC with an integrated luminosity of 200 pb-1. The method itself uses the similarity of W and Z production in proton-proton collisions and estimates the W+jets rate in the top signal region using the ratio of rates of W and Z production as a function of the jet multiplicity. A summary of the method is given and the various statistical and systematical uncertainties are discussed.
