Solution of NLTE problem for Mg I in the atmosphere of an M giant with chromosphere. II. Source functions and theoretical profiles of the lines λλ 457.11, 516.73, 517.26, 518.36 nm

Description
The source functions and Mg I line profiles have been calculated for the atmosphere of an M giant (Teff = 3,800 degree K, log g = 1.5). Atmosphere models of an M giant with chromospheres differing in the position of the temperature minimum were specified empirically. It is concluded that the form of the intercombination line Mg I λ 457.11 nm depends strongly on the behavior of the temperature in the atmosphere of the star. At the same time, the strong subordinate Mg I lines are insensitive to the structure of the outer layers of the atmosphere of a red giant
