Associated particle method for 14 MeV neutron data measurement

  • 1. Academia Sinica, Beijing, BJ (China). Inst. of Atomic Energy

Description

The application of associated particle method for 14 MeV neutron data measurement is discussed. The improvements of the AEP associated particle type fast neutron TOF spectrometer are presented. A new AEP value of 2.078+-0.040 b for the fission cross section of 235U induced by 14.2 MeV neutrons using the time correlated associated particle method is given and the ''back-to-back'' TCAP method for direct measurement of fission cross section ratio of 238U to 235U is described. In the latter experiment a ''correlated neutron beam wrapping up samples'' geometry has been adopted to eliminate the effect of the ununiformity of the samples. The initial experimental results indicate that this method is feasible. (author)
