Thermal neutron radiative capture by 3He

Description
The experimental and theoretical results of studing thehe radiative capture of thermal neutrons by 3He nuctei are presented. The measurements have been carried out by the time-of-flight method using the IBR-30 pulse reactor with a gaseous 3He target and NaI(Tl) detector. The effective cross section of the nν reaction with magnetic dipole radiation is calculated with the Gaussian wave functions of the 3He and 4He ground states. The experimental and theoretical values have been compared to estimate the admixture of the ''mixed symmetry'' state in a 4He nucleus
