Selection of patients for x-ray examinations: skull x-ray examination for trauma
Description
From a review of the literature and using data provided by a comprehensive FDA study, referral criteria in the form of an algorithm or strategy were developed for the radiological management of patients with head injuries. The algorithm assigns patients to groups of low, moderate, or high risk, according to the severity of their clinical signs and symptoms and the medical history of the trauma. Radiological management of the patient is then based on the risk group
