On the determination of the residence time of raindrops in a cloud
Description
An attempt was made to find the mean residence of raindrops by determining the isotopes composition of radon decay products fallen out the earth's surface in raindrops. It has been assumed that mainly the 218Po aerosols deposit on the droplets because they are generated by the 222Rn, accumulated in the cloud. The calculations were made for the conditions of the radioactive equilibrium between the 222Rn, 218Po, 214Pb, and 214Bi and for the disequilibrium between them
