Relativistic effects in muonic molecules

Creators

Description

Relativistic effects: spin-independent relativistic and QED effects, particle spin effects and nuclear electromagnetic structure (EMS) effects are considered in muonic molecules. All these effects give rise to some corrections to tμ atom and dtμ molecule energy levels and allow to define the Coulomb binding energy. Relativistic and EMS corrections to muonic molecule binding energy are calculated numerically with an accuracy of 10-3 eV. The main contribution to the shift of the muonic molecule binding energy Δε(tot) comes from nuclear EMS effects. Deuteron polarizability correction Δε(pol)=-1.9 MeV is significantly smaller than in dμ atom, because of the spatial asymmetry of dtμ muonic molecule
