Infrared observations of new cometary nebulae
Description
An infrared photometric survey of small nebulae selected from the Palomar Sky Survey prints reveals that long wavelength radiation ( 10 ) is only detected from those objects with "cometary" morphology. The structure of the nebulae and the infrared properties of their associated stars suggest that cometary nebulae are young stars surrounded by a disk-like distribution of dust, which may be viewed at various inclinations. Key words: infrared radiation - cometary nebulae - dust disks
