Synthesis of copper and zinc nanostructures by discharges in liquid nitrogen

Description

Highlights: • Cu and Zn nanoparticles are formed by nanosecond discharge in liquid N2 between Cu63Zn37 electrodes. • 2D zinc sheets are formed when a pure zinc electrode is used. • Oxidation in air of nanoparticles leads to Cu2O and ZnO. • Cu2O@ZnO and Cu@ZnO nanoparticles could be formed in selected conditions. • The possibility to form alloy nanoparticles is limited.
