The radiological impact of accelerators on the environment
Description
The radiological impact of accelerators on the environment is due to inadequate shielding and induced radioactivity. The main ways are skyshine of neutron and the release of gaseous radionuclides produced in air to the atmosphere. When precaution is taken, the impact of accelerators is in general, relatively small. It is important to remark that up to now no signficant contamination resulted from operation of the accelerator has been observed
