High-temperature 9-10%-CrMoV materials for steam turbines - A status report on current research work in Germany

The novel 10%-CrMoV materials developed under the roof of the European COST501 project have made it possible that advanced power plants with supercritical steam parameters could be designed. Operational experience so far with the new plants and the novel materials yielded information indicating possibilities or requirements for further enhancement or development work, and the German power plant industry translated this information to a catalogue of aspects and subjects for further research work. The resulting research programmes are performed by the universities and relevant research institutes, accompanied by management and coordination activities of a Task Force of the industry whose members are representatives of the companies Siemens, ABB, and Alstom Energie. Die neuen 10%CrMoV-Staehle, die in dem europaeischen Gemeinschaftsvorhaben COST501 entwickelt worden sind, haben die Realisierung von Kraftwerken mit ueberkritischen Dampfparametern ermoeglicht und werden heute bereits in neuen Kraftwerken eingesetzt. Daraus resultierend ergeben sich weitere praxisrelevante Fragen, die durch die deutsche Kraftwerksindustrie als Forschungsthemen formuliert und von Hochschulen und Instituten bearbeitet werden. Diese Programme werden durch einen Arbeitskreis der Industrie, bestehend aus Vertretern der Firmen Siemens, ABB und Alstom Energie begleitet und koordiniert. (orig.)Additional details
