The Radiation Shielding Performance Evaluation on Advanced Spent Fuel Conditioning Process Facility

Description

The performance of shielding integrity of advanced spent fuel conditioning process facility have been evaluated by shield integrity test. Shield integrity test have been fulfilled by three times and those results were used to conforming to the safety of the facility and get a government approval of facility. In first examination of front wall, several abnormal points were generally found at lower parts of embedded plate and interface between master slave manipulator and shield wall. All those were repaired and retested. The back side wall have been constructed with identical shielding integrity of front wall, in spite of the back side wall region, service area, was expected to lower entrance and exit of people. So most parts of back side wall was constructed well, but void area detected at upper part of wall where old wall had been cut and re-poured concrete on it. So these failure points were all repaired and retested to confirm the shielding integrity of the wall. Left and right side wall and rear door interface were also tested and reinforced to ensure the safety. It was also confirmed the safety of the shielding windows, rear doors, master slave manipulator and penetrations. All shield walls and equipment installed on showed the good shielding integrity results. Advanced spent fuel conditioning process facility was proven to be suitable to test the ACP experiments in it. The comparison results of shielding calculation between design specification of ACP source and integrity test source, and integrity test points and dose rates were written in appendix
