Study of steam condensation by rapid transient expansion of the mixture of steam and a non condensable gas

Description

This work concerned various problems of condensation of water vapor during the expansion following the rapid opening of the high pressure chamber in a shock tube (or expansion tube): proposal of new modeling approaches to the rate of growth of water drops in the presence of a non-condensable gas during the expansion in a shock tube, and theoretical study of the evolution of the whole condensate form; establishment of the complete equations governing the calculation of the flow in the high pressure chamber of the shock tube in the presence of vapor condensation; experimental demonstration of condensation, and comparison of standards with the theoretical results
