'Red Book' of resources now includes ex-USSR

Known uranium resources in the territories of the former Soviet Union are 685,600 te in the recovery cost category up to $130/kg. Of this total, 465,000 te are in the low-cost category up to $80/kg. These official figures have been supplied for the first time for the Red Book on uranium resources, production, and demand published jointly every two years by the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Like the rival supply and demand publication of the Uranium Institute (NN, Mar. 1992, p. 67), the Red Book has been able to dispense with the ugly acronym WOCA (world outside communist areas), but since it has not yet been possible to integrate it has not yet been possible to integrate the Eastern figures fully into all the statistics, there are still references to selected countries and others. Among other countries reporting uranium resource information to the Red Book for the first time are China, India, and Romania, but since figures for these countries do not include information about recoverability or cost, they are simply listed in the below-$130/kg category
