Description

X-ray structural analysis of the compound (NH4)2Re2Cl8x2H2O is performed with edged single crystals. The experimental material is obtained using the automatic diffractometer Syntex (2028 independent non-zero reflexes). The compound crystallizes in triclinic system, the space group P anti 1; 1=6.801(2); b=7.874(2); c=7.950(2) A; α=102.51(2); β=108.31(2); γ=104.32(2) deg; z=1. The compound studied (NH4)2Re2Cl8x2H2O is isostructural to the potassic derivative K2Re2Cl8x2H2O. Rhenium atoms in the dimers [Re2Cl8]2- are additionally coordinated by chlorine atoms from neighbouring dimers. The length of the quaternary bond Re-Re is 2.234(1)A
