This paper addresses ARCO Alaska's successful program of drilling smaller holes for 13.375 inch [339.73 mm] surface casing strings. Data is presented from wells drilled by Arco Alaska Inc on the Alaska North Slope along with a detailed breakdown of cost reductions in cement, rig, bit and mud costs
