Tbilisi Earthquake on April 25, 2002: Results of Instrumental and Macroseismic Investigations

The results of investigation of instrumental and macroseismic data of Tbilisi earthquake, April 25, 2002 are presented. On the basis of instrumental data the main kinematic and dynamic parameters of the earthquake and the geometric size of the source are determined. The isoseismal map has been constructed. It was established that Tbilisi earthquake was caused by dextral slip on the Tbilisi -Mtkvari fault. The seismic activity of this fault represents a significant risk to Tbilisi. (authors)
