Experiments on neutron-rich light nuclei at GANIL

Creators

  • 1. Inst. de Physique Nucleaire, F-91406 Orsay (France)

Description

During the past five years, the intermediate-energy heavy-ion beams from the GANIL accelerator have proven their effectiveness for the production and study of light nuclei very far from stability. Numerous new nuclei situated at both drip-lines have been identified and first mass-measurements have been performed for many isotopes. Decay studies by means of β-γ spectroscopy and β-delayed proton- or neutron-emission have been started and are yielding information on hitherto unexplored nuclei. The scope of the paper is to present and discuss some selected recent results for neutron-rich isotopes
