Chemistry of clusters

The fundamentals of classification,regularities of structure and reaction ability of cluster compounds of metals including Cs, Be, B, Cd,In, La, Nd, Sm, V, Nb, Ta, Mo, W, Tc, Re, Ru, etc, are present. Types of molecular cluster compounds with the frame in the shape of metal chains, metal cycles, metal carcasses and metal polyhedrons are reviewed. Central concepts of cluster chemistry are discussed. They are geometry, topology of a metallic frame and its connection with the number of valence electrons, ligand polyhedrons and their dynamics, regularities of cluster frame enlargement etc. Results of structural studies of cluster molecules are given.
