VATESI goals and structure. Board of VATESI
Description
Constitution of nuclear safety regulatory body in Lithuania - VATESI is presented. VATESI was established by the Government in 1991. VATESI is responsible for state regulation of nuclear safety, accounting for nuclear materials. Currently there are five divisions at VATESI: Licensing Division, Safety Assesment Division, Resident Group at Ignalina NPP, Radioactive Waste Division and Nuclear Materials Control Division. In 1997 Board of VATESI was established to control VATESI's activities and to form nuclear safety strategy for Lithuania. The board consists of 7 members from various authorities and is chaired by prof. K. Almenas from Maryland University (US)
