Description

The x-ray photoelectron spectrum (XPS) and the superconducting critical temperature Tc have been measured for the metallic glass Zr76(FexCu1-x) with x=0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0. The results show that the density of electron states at the Fermi level increases while Tc decreases as the amount of Fe increases. This implies the spin fluctuation role depresses Tc effectively. The McMillan equation including the spin fluctuation effect has been used to estimate the Tc behaviour. The doping effects of elemental Fe in this system are discussed. (author)
