A study of the mass-18 nuclei and the effective interaction in the sd shell

Description
Using Q-box techniques, linked expansions in terms of number of folds are carried out for all states of the mass-18 nuclei, where the complete 0+2ℎω space is considered. These expansions are shown to converge quickly. However, the series involved in obtaining the Q-box and the Rayleigh-Schroedinger series are found to converge slowly and only with the use of a shift operator that modifies the harmonic-oscillator potential.
