Description
Polymers containing phenolic -OH groups are known to have high selectivity for cesium. Two such functional polymers were synthesized - one by condensation polymerization between resorcinol and formaldehyde and the other by anchoring resorcinal/phenol to a crosslinked polystyrene matrix. The cesium uptake and other characteristics of the products were compared. Possible reasons for the differences observed are discussed. (author). 1 tab
