Multifragmentation of atomic nuclei

Description
In nuclear physics, the term multifragmentation refers to the instantaneous break-up (partition) of a highly excited atomic nucleus into several fragments. We present a description of this process and an introduction to the application of equilibrium statistical mechanics in the analysis of the probabilities associated with partitions. (author)
