Ion acceleration in plasma during collision of two magnetoacoustic collisionless shock waves

Description

It is reported about the results of experimental investigations into the process of deuterium ion acceleration along the magnetic field under collision of two fronts of quasiperpendicular magnetoacoustic shock waves at a fixed angle. Deuton energy measured by activation methods on the base of 14N(d, n)15O reaction makes up 1.2±0.5 MeV. The mechanism of ion capture to the acceleration regime along the magnetic field is discussed. Theoretic evaluations of acceleration rate under a change in time and space related to the angle of collision of two magnetoacoustic wave fronts are presented. 12 refs.; 4 figs.; 1 tab
