Transport description of heavy-ion reactions

  • 1. Max-Planck-Institut fuer Kernphysik, Heidelberg (Germany, F.R.)

Description

A guide is given of material presented by the author in his paper 'Transport Theories of Heavy-Ion Reactions' (Preprint MP1 H-1978-V29 and to appear in Progress in Particle and Nuclear Physics, Pergamon Press, Oxford) together with notes on the three lectures presented at the present International School of Nuclear Physics. The first of these contained a phenomenological introduction to the use of Fokker-Planck equations in heavy-ion reactions, the second discussed the validity of the use of transport equations in nuclei in terms of characteristic time scales and the third gave a summary of various approaches to calculate transport coefficients in the nuclear context.
