Specific structural features of lead (II) coordination compounds with thiosemi- and semicarbazidediacetic acids in crystal

Description

The synthesis and crystal structure of the lead (II) complex with thiosemicarbazidediacetic acid Pbthdac·H2O (II) are reported (sp. gr. Pna21; a=10.125(6), b=10.559(5), and c=9.201(5) A; Z=4; R=0.07). The structure is built of the [Pbthdac·H2O] complexes. The acid residue thdac2- coordinates the central atom in the (S, N, O, O) mode. The Pb atom is additionally coordinated to CN=7 by the oxygen atoms of a water molecule and two adjacent complexes, which results in the formation of zigzag chains parallel to the [001] direction. The chains are linked by hydrogen bonds into layers parallel to the (010) planes. The two-dimensional layer of structure II is similar to the layers observed in the crystal structure of the Pb(II) complex with semicarbazidediacetic acid Pbsdac·H2O (I). Details of crystal structures I and II are discussed. Possible electric properties and optical activities of crystals I and II are suggested based on the specific features of their structures
