Study of the synthesis of non-isocyanate polyurethanes (NIPUs) from castor oil - FT-IR and 13C NMR

  • 1. Lab. de Pesquisa em Polímeros e Nanomateriais (LabPolN), Instituto de Química, Universidade de Brasília (UnB), DF (Brazil)

Description

: The objective of this work is to study the synthesis of non-isocyanate polyurethane (NIPUs) obtained by the reaction of castor (Ricinus communis L.) oil (OMa) with urea, catalyzed with boron trifluoride etherate [BF3(Et2O)]. The polymeric material was obtained from the reaction between OMa and urea in the proportions OMa:urea of 1:2, 1:3, 1:4 and 1:8, using BF3(Et2O) as the catalyst under mechanical stirring and different curing times. The characterization of the materials was performed by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (13C NMR) in the solid state. (author)
