Improved performance of HgI2 spectrometers in the low energy X-ray region

Description
High resolution X-ray detectors with areas up to 20 mm2 have been fabricated from a 100g HgI2 single crystal. The 1.5 keV aluminium Ksub(α) X-ray line is clearly resolved with the detectors operating at room temperature. (Auth.)
