Description
Electromagnetic implosions of quasi-cylindrical shaped aluminum liners which remain solid are discussed. The approximate liner parameters are 3 to 4 cm radius, 4 cm height, and ∼ 0.1 cm thick. The liners are driven by a Shiva Star capacitor bank direct discharge. Discharge parameters are 1300 microfarads, 84 kilovolt charging voltage, ∼ 30 nanohenries total initial inductance (including load). The axial discharge current rises to 14 megamperes in ∼ 8 microseconds. The implosion time is ∼ 12 microseconds. Diagnostics include inductive current and capacitive voltage probes, magnetic probes, and x-radiography. Conical liner implosion data are shown
