Description

The Electric Power Research Institute and the Radwaste Operations Subcommittee of the American society of mechanical Engineers annually sponsor a workshop in Low-Level Radioactive Waste Management. The workshop provides a forum for the exchange of practical operational experiences as they relate to radwaste management. As such, radwaste professionals offer their knowledge and expertise, making a valuable contribution to the quality and success of this workshop. The proceedings of the eleventh radwaste workshop, held June 1989, addressed the following pertinent issues: economics of waste; dry active waste; volume reduction; wet waste processing; and regulatory affairs. Highlights of the workshop included: the economic advantages of optimizing water and waste treatment; the state-of-the-art in DAW in-plant processing; the pros and cons of a mobile demineralizer system; and an update of current disposal site operations and regulations to name a few
