An assessment of carburization behaviour of SUS304 stainless steel in FBR secondary system
Description
A sodium loop simulating the secondary system of a practical FBR was constructed and operated to observe the carburization behaviour of SUS304 in the bimetallic system. Based on the test results, the extent of carburization and its influence on the mechanical properties of SUS304 were estimated at the end of service life of an FBR. It is judged that SUS304 retains sufficient strength and ductility even in the thin walled heat transfer tubes of the intermediate heat exchanger
