Description

The photoluminescence (PL) properties of a calcium sulphate doped only with trivalent europium are studied before and after X-irradiation. On X-irradiation, a high Eu2+ emission appears clearly, with a simultaneous decrease of the Eu3+ PL intensity. The Eu2+/ Eu3+ PL intensity ratio increases as a function of X-air kerma plotted 12 min after X-irradiation which shows that this technique can be used in radiation dosimetry in the high dose region (102-104 Gy). However, the PL intensities of Eu3+ and Eu2+ emissions are unstable after X-irradiation at RT. (copyright 2004 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH and Co. KGaA, Weinheim) (orig.)
