Significant Success For EBO: 10 Years Without Reactor Scram

Description

Bohunice nuclear power plant has achieved a significant success in operating its units. On 10 March it was exactly 10 years since the last actuation of the automatic reactor scram at Unit 4 of V2. On 10 March 2006 the unit worked in secondary control power and at 13:17 both two turbo-generators were shut down due to actuation of protections as a result of high temperature in bearings. Subsequently, by closure of quick-closing valves of the last working turbo-generator lead to the automatic reactor scram of the first type. Achieving the success of smooth operation is not taken for granted in case of nuclear power plants. This situation has been attained mainly as a result of a well-handled modernization and increased performance at NPP V2 units, not only in the preparatory stage but also during the actual implementation of both projects. This success would not have been possible without the commitment and professionalism of the EBO staff engaged in their everyday work.
