Description

An angle sensitive parallel plate avalanche detector (ASPD) with θ-cathode having concentric half-ring pattern printed strips and φ-cathode having radial fan pattern evaporated segments has been developed. This kind of detector can be used for scattering experiments in atomic physics and for studying binary reactions in nuclear physics. The properties of the ASPDs have been tested in flowing n-heptane gas at a pressure of 950 Pa using α-particles both come from 241Am source and scattered ones on Au target in 2 x 1.7 MV tandem accelerator. The angle resolution of Δθ = 0.286 degree in θ-direction (corresponding to a radial position resolution of Δ r = 1.5 mm in θ-cathode plane) and Δφ = 6 degree in φ-direction and time resolution of Δt = 580 ps (for α particles) have obtained
