Application of ion exchange and electrodialysis for decontamination of liquid radioactive wastes
Description
Empirical results of ion exchange decontamination of low-level-radioactivity liquid effluents are presented. The Moscow Decontamination Station flowsheet is used as an example. The advantages and drawbacks of the method are described. Electrodialysis used prior to ion exchange makes it possible to decrease the final volume of waste to be disposed. It is suggested suggested that a further reduction can be achaved by electrodialysis coupled with ion exchange and re-using acids and alkalies obtained by electrodialytic treatment of regenerated solutions
