Phase equilibrium and crystal structure of Tb-Cu-Al compounds within the range up to 50 at.%Tb

Description

Phase equilibrium diagram of Tb-Cu-Al system under 650 and 400 deg C (range characterized by high content of aluminium) is plotted using X-ray analysis technique. Boundaries of solid solutions and homogeneity ranges of ternary compounds are determined. The way of distribution of Cu and Al atoms in TbCu5 base solid solution and in TbCu12-xAlx ternary compound is determined. Crystalline structures of TbCu6.4Al4.6 (eigen-structure type) and Tb3Cu1.2Al9.8 (La3Al11 type) new compounds are determined. 13 refs.; 4 figs.; 3 tabs
