The preparation and use of 113m-Indium oxine as a platelet label

  • 1. Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham (UK)

Description

The preparation and use in an artificial circuit, of 113m-Indium oxine which had been simply made by the addition of generator eluant to a prepared aqueous solution of oxine, is described. This chelate have been used to label platelets as an example of a cell whose function can be easily monitored in vitro. The short lived nature of 113m-Indium allows the possibility of dual isotope or dual cell studies to be carried out and has proved particularly useful in laboratory assays of platelet physiology, with possible clinical applications
