Multilateral evaluation of renal transplants with radionuclides

  • 1. Northwestern Univ., Chicago, Ill. (USA)

Description

The simultaneous use of several diagnostic methods using radiopharmaceuticals was applied to the study of 28 renal transplants with the purpose of determining an efficient, cost-effective and convenient protocol. Two radiopharmaceuticals were used: sup(99m)Tc-DTPA and 131I-Hippuran. The normal pattern and the results in acute tubular necrosis, rejection and collecting system abnormalities are presented. The results of this study emphasize the particular usefulness of the Tc-DTPA time-activity processed curves and of the Tc-DTPA image at 5 min post-injection when used in conjunction with the classic Hippuran curves and images.
