Relaxation of electron-hole pairs and scintillations in Cs I-Tl and Cs I-Na
Description
Formation of scintillations in Cs-Tl and Cs I-Na crystals used to record ionizing emissions is studied. Conclusion is made that ionizing emission induced electron-hole pairs in bound state under correlated relaxation reach impurity and near it they decompose with formation of Tl0-Vk or Na0-Vk defect pairs. In this case, high degree of space correlation of these defect pairs is reached dictating high probability of their emissive annihilation and high yield of scintillations
