Highlights: • qMRI techniques have potential for use as imaging biomarkers of musculoskeletal inflammation. • Targeted qMRI can help understand the pathophysiology of MSK inflammatory disease. • qMRI has the potential to support diagnosis, patient management and treatment decision making. • qMRI techniques can be more objective and reproducible than conventional quantitative imaging. • qMRI has the potential to support measurement automation and machine learning techniques. - Abstract: PurposeTo review quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (qMRI) methods for imaging inflammation in connective tissues and the skeleton in inflammatory arthritis. This review is designed for a broad audience including radiologists, imaging technologists, rheumatologists and other healthcare professionals.
