On the equivalence between β-functions and massless bosonic string field equations of motion
Description
It is shown that the β-functions of the generalized bosonic non-linear σ-model for gravity and antisymmetric tensor presently available in the literature cannot be obtained as the equations of motion from a covariant action. Some consequences of this result are discussed and a possible solution is indicated. (orig.)
