Description
This paper discusses how the development of ultrashort-lived radionuclides, in general, and 191mIr, in particular, has been a parallel course of improved generator design permitting larger doses to be administered to the patient with a lower absorbed radiation dose, better studies, and hence wider clinical application. The 191Os → 191Ir generators that are used today offer higher 191mIr yield with lower 191Os breakthrough than earlier designs while using more physically compatible eluents
