Para-bosons and para-fermions in quantum mechanics

Description

Within the framework of the ordinary quantum mechanics, a detailed study of the energy eigenfunctions of N identical particles using the irreducible representations of the permutation group in the Hilbert space has been performed. It is shown that the para-states, as occurs with the boson and fermion states, are compatible with the postulates of quantum mechanics and with the principle of indistinguishability. A mathematical support for the existence of para-bosons and para-fermions is given and in a certain sense, Gentile's quantum statistics is justified. (Author)

Abstract (Portuguese)

Faz-se, dentro das bases da mecanica quantica comum, um estudo detalhado das autofuncoes de energia de N particulas identicas usando, as representacoes irredutiveis do grupo de permutacao no espaco de Hilbert. Mostra-se, que os para-estados, como ocorre com os estados do boson e do fermin, sao compativeis com os postulados da mecanica quantica e com o principio de indistinguibilidade. Da-se um suporte matematico para a existencia de para-bosons e para-fermious e justifica-se, num certo sentido, a estatistica quantica de Gentile. (L.C.)
