A guide to the prognosis for survival in mammals following the acute effects of inhaled radioactive particles

Creators

  • 1. Central Electricity Generating Board, Berkeley (UK). Berkeley Nuclear Labs.

Description

Data are presented in such a way that the prognosis for survival in mammals, and in particular in man, can be determined from a knowledge of the nature and quality of the radioactive material without having to resort to calculation of the lung or whole-body dose. Equations are given for both soluble and insoluble particles which allow calculation of the maximum initial lung burdens which are compatible with man surviving acute radiation effects. (author)
