Histological changes in squamous cell carcinoma of cervix uteri by irradiation
- 1. Jikei Univ., Tokyo (Japan). School of Medicine
Description
Early changes in irradiated squamous cell carcinomas of the cervix uteri consisted of enlarged nuclei and nucleoli at the light-microscopic level and changes in the cytoplasm at the electron-microscopic level. These cellular changes which preceded changes in the tissue, proved to be related to the degree of differentiation of the carcinoma, and, in the early stage of irradiation were more striking in undifferentiated carcinomas than in differentiated ones.
