Description
In the scattering process of 12C on 13C the mixing of the p- and sd-shell orbits of the valence neutron in 13C has been investigated by using the coupled channel theory with the adiabatic assumption. When two nuclei approach each other an extremely anisotropic density distribution of the neutron is induced due to the mixed-parity configuration similar to the s-p hybrid configurations in atomic physics. The probability of the elastic transfer of the neutron is enhanced by virtue of this deformation. (Auth.)
