Interactions between cylindrical bodies and supersonic flowing plasmas: measurements in the front and rear stagnation regions for a cylinder in cross-flow

Description
The forward and rearward facing regions near the surface of a cylindrical conducting body mounted transversely to a supersonic flowing continuum plasma were investigated by local current measurement. Experimental results show that the electron current is affected by the asymmetrical temperature profile created around the cylinder by the flow, and that the ion current is also significantly enhanced by the flow.
