Waste acceptance requirements

Description

The safety criteria established for repositories (geological condition of sites, geotechnical layout of mines, properties of the radioactive wastes) create special waste acceptance requirements to be observed by plant owners liable to delivery and by the radioactive waste conditioners. The waste acceptance requirements thus have a direct influence on the conditioning, i.e. the processing and packaging of radioactive wastes. The individual waste acceptance requirements applicable to the Morsleben repository and the Konrad and Gorleben projects are elucidated. (BBR)

Abstract (German)

Die Sicherheitskriterien fuer radioaktive Endlager (geologische Situation des Endlagerstandortes, ingenieurmaessige Auslegung des Endlagerbergwerkes, Eigenschaften der radioaktiven Abfaelle) bedingen Anforderungen an die radioaktiven Abfaelle, die in den Endlagerungsbedingungen als Massgabe fuer den Ablieferungspflichtigen bzw. Konditionierer zusammengefasst sind. Somit nehmen die Endlagerungsbedingungen direkten Einfluss auf die Konditionierung der radioaktiven Abfaelle, d.h. auf ihre Verarbeitung und Verpackung. Die unterschiedlichen Endlagerungsbedingungen fuer das Endlager Morsleben und die Endlagerprojekte Konrad und Gorleben werden erlaeutert. (BBR)
